“I had actually wished for that moment for 790 days. When that moment came, I assumed: I didn’t intend to lose a solitary second,” stated Floderus. He had decided to recommend to his sweetheart on the first night in bondage in Iran, he claimed.

Johan Floderus and his now-fiancé Johnathan von Fürstenmühl kept their partnership under wraps while Floderus, a Swedish mediator and European Union official, was locked up in Iran– in order to maintain him much safer, the pair told Swedish TV4 Nyheterna in a meeting.

“Everyone asks if [being complimentary] really feels unreal. But if really feels really, very genuine … I can walk more than three or four steps without my nose hitting a wall. I can feel the sunlight on my skin and the wind in my hair,” he explained.

“That type of information would certainly spread out fast. I believed it was best for me to keep it personal,” said Johan Floderus. “My solid feelings for my now-fiancé and then-boyfriend Jonathan maintained me active,” he added in the Swedish TV interview.

The arrest was kept under wraps for greater than a year, just coming to light in September 2023. Iranian prosecutors implicated him of espionage, though stopped working to existing evidence on behalf of the case. He was launched in June this year as part of a detainee swap.
